UPI, MAGUINDANAO DEL NORTE – A 1-day Job Fair organized by the Ministry of Labor and Employment through its Bureau of Employment, Promotion and Welfare (BEPW) in collaboration with the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of the Local Government Unit of Upi assisted 71 jobseekers.

The 1-day event in partnership with the Bangsamoro government and the Upi Municipality took place on Dec. 28 at the Upi Municipal Gymnasium.

BEPW Director Sara Jane S. Sinsuat, Sangguniang Bayan Member, Hon. Geraldine G. Bacas, and PESO Manager Pearl Garrigues-Chiong were present to grace the event.

Among the 71 applicants who were hoping to get employed in various job offers, 8 were hired-on-the-spot (HOTS).

Director Sinsuat said, the MOLE is always ready to support the LGU of Upi in pursuing their goal to provide assistance for unemployed Upians and jobseekers under the MOLE program – to deliver technical assistance to Public Employment Service Office.

“Hopefully we can provide a better job and future for our people and be successful in [their] chosen field because [they] are equipped and deserving,” Sinsuat said.

“It is overwhelming and we are grateful to the private establishments who came and joined in the job fair and worth mentioning that at least we were able to hire applicants on the spot. We saw the smiles and happiness [in] their faces,” Sinsuat added.

The 1-day job fair participated by several companies and business firms in Maguindanao and Cotabato City offered more than 70 jobs in retail, hospitality, manufacturing, and sales.

The job fair is one of the MOLE programs and activities which intend to provide technical assistance, facilitate job opportunities, and provide linkage to the employers and jobseekers in sourcing out manpower. (MOLE-ICD)
