COTABATO CITY – The Ministry of Labor and Employment on Thursday, Feb. 16, provided financial assistance to the bereaved families of two (2) overseas Bangsamoro workers (OBW) who died in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Upon knowing the demise of the two OBWs, Minister Muslimin G. Sema besought the Overseas Workers Welfare Bureau and the field offices in Cotabato City and Maguindanao to extend help to the families of the deceased OBWs.
Director General-Designate Datu Surab Abutazil, Jr. led the home visitation to extend financial aid and condole with the bereaved families.
The two OBWs were both residents of Cotabato City.
Maricel Colado who worked as a domestic worker in Al Bahah, KSA died at Al Bahah Hospital last Dec. 11, 2022.
According to Maricel’s relative, Mr. Edgar Colado, the recruitment agency informed them that Maricel died due to enlargement of the heart.
On the other hand, Juvilyn Masandil, also a domestic worker in Riyadh, KSA who had lost contact with her family for more than 3 years was slain by her employer. Her brother Vilmar Masandil said.
Under the Assistance for Repatriated Abused Overseas Bangsamoro Workers, family of Colado and Masandil received P10,000.00 cash from MOLE as immediate relief.
Meanwhile, the Ministry is closely coordinating with the family of the deceased OBWs for other possible benefits they may receive.
“Inaayos na rin ang iba pang benepisyo na maaring matanggap ng kanilang naiwang pamilya,” OWWB Director Annuarudin Tayuan said. (MOLE-ICD)
