TALAYAN, MAGUINDANAO DEL SUR – In service of the Bangsamoro people, various programs and services of the Ministry of Labor and Employment have reached the constituents of Maguindanao del Sur during the Service Caravan held today, Jan. 22, at the Municipal Gymnasium of Talayan, as part of the week-long celebration of the 6th BARMM Founding Anniversary.

Labor Minister Muslimin “Bapa Mus” G. Sema, during the opening of the caravan, was festive as they brought together with other BARMM agencies the services of the Bangsamoro Government closer to the residents of the MDS province.

Minister Sema, whose heart is close to the people of Talayan Municipality, said the BARMM anniversary is a celebration of success, unity, and growth among the Bangsamoro people.

One of the services brought in during the caravan was the job fair where 15 participating private establishments, companies and recruitment agencies jointly opened a total of 1,576 job vacancies.

These job vacancies were for business process outsourcing, communications and information technology, hospitality, customer service, healthcare, law enforcement, and jobs in the merchandising and manufacturing industries.

With 88 hopeful jobseekers, the job fair has registered 11 hired-on-the-spot (HOTS).

“Napakasarap sa feeling na ma-hire po, lalo na’t on the spot pa, kasi matagal-tagal na rin akong nag-a-apply,” said Rene Ibrahim, a resident of Tambunan in Talayan, MDS, as he expressed happiness for being hired-on-the-spot.

“Parang na-o-overwhelm ako at awkward rin kasi ngayon ko lang na-meet yung mga ibang empleyado ng iba’t-ibang establishments, especially yung nag-hire sa akin on the spot,” said Fairodz Abdullah, another HOTS.

“Masaya yung araw ko ngayon kaya, thank you!” Abdullah added.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines, on the other hand, took part in the job fair activity as they introduced the recruitment and enlistment process as part of their information drive.

Moreover, programs for former overseas Bangsamoro workers (OBWs) such as Assistance Program for Repatriated OBWs was offered for pre-registration, while invitations for Pre-Employment Orientation Seminar (PEOS) and Pre-Departure Seminar (PDOS) for would-be OBWs have begun also.

Registration of Workers’ Association was offered free of payment for the first 20 applicants. In addition, it opened Registration of Establishment Under Rule 1020 (Labor Code).

Apart from these, around 100 families received a 25-kg sack of rice from the ministry under the Project Tabang.

The ministry also distributed information, education, and communication (IEC) materials on minimum wage for workers in the private establishments and domestic workers or kasambahay. (MOLE-ICD)
